Construction of the Prince of Wales Vocational and Technical Education Center facility was completed in 2014 with the intent of becoming an educational 501c3; a Board of Directors was formed with members of the original planning committee. The Board of Directors includes representatives from the Island communities, four tribal governments, four school districts, the USDA Forest Service, Prince of Wales Health Network, Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, the Chamber of Commerce, and at-large members.
In late 2018, the Board of Directors underwent a strategic planning session and set the goal to fully utilize the facility and be widely recognized throughout Southeast Alaska as the first choice for offering high quality workforce development.
